New Project Fi Phone

My daughter order a new Nexus 5X for Project Fi.  Since she just moved to the UK, she shipped the phone/SIM to me and I installed the SIM and started the turn on.  I made a point of making sure the OS & apps were all updated before I shipped the phone to her.

Below is the list of OS updates that were required to get the phone up-to-date.

1. Update OS to 7.1.1
2. 1/2017 patch update 
3. 2/2017 patch update
4. 3/2017 patch update
5. Update OS to 7.1.2
6. 5/2017 patch update
7. 6/2017 patch update

Come on Google, 7 updates each with a reboot - really?  This is an amazingly bad new phone turn on experience.  Google, you should be doing better.

In addition, if these updates include security updates, then it is possible for a new phone to not be updated for many days after an initial turn-on since the user wouldn't prioritize rebooting their phone every few hours.  As such, this large number of OS updates becomes a security risk too.
